St. Catharines, Ontario – The first graduation ceremony of the Nepali Language Class was held on May 29, 2026 at St. John Learning Centre in St. Catharines, marking a significant milestone in promoting Nepali language and culture among young learners in the Niagara Region.

The classes were conducted in collaboration with the Niagara Nepali Samaj (NNS) and the Niagara Catholic District School Board. Approximately 23 children, aged 5 to 12 years, successfully completed the program, which ran from September 2025 to May 2026.During the ceremony, Niagara Nepali Samaj recognized the graduating students by presenting certificates of completion. The instructor, Sharmila Bhatta, was also honored for her dedicated service and valuable contribution to the success of the program. The certificates were distributed by the honorable senior member Maheshwor Bista.

Members of the NNS Board of Directors Dipak Kumar, Dipesh Pokharel, and Bhanu Ghimire, expressed their gratitude to the instructor and parents for their continued support and commitment to preserving Nepali language, culture, and identity among the younger generation. Niagara Nepali Samaj has announced that the next session of the Nepali Language Class will resume in September 2026, continuing efforts to strengthen cultural heritage within the community.
