NNS Launches Nepali Language Class

Niagara Nepali Samaj has successfully introduced Nepali language classes for children of Nepali community members residing in the Niagara region. The classes, offered under the Niagara Catholic District School Board’s International and Indigenous Languages Elementary (IILE) Program, have been running smoothly since October 2025. Classes are available to students from Kindergarten to Grade 8.

This initiative has been made possible through the effective coordination of Niagara Nepali Samaj with the school board, parents, and students. The program aims to preserve and promote Nepali language and culture among younger generations growing up in Canada.

Classes are held every Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the St. John Adult Learning Center, Continuing Education, in St. Catharines. They are instructed by an Ontario Certified Teacher, and a total of 21 students have already enrolled in this inaugural session.

Niagara Nepali Samaj encourages all interested parents to register their eligible children and take advantage of this valuable opportunity to strengthen cultural roots and enhance Nepali language proficiency within the community.
